Über diese Geschichte

A coin made with Dr Alex Clarke for the viewers of Naval History Live.

The back shows HMS Eskimo after the Second Battle of Narvik on 13 April 1940. A torpedo from the German destroyer Georg Thiele blew her bow off. She stayed afloat, got temporary repairs from HMS Vindictive at Skjelfjord, and was rebuilt at Newcastle by September 1940. She went on to serve in Operation Pedestal in 1942 and was broken up at Troon in 1949.

Front: the Naval History Live logo, a destroyer in silver over orange and navy enamel.

Back: Eskimo with her bow gone, carrying F75, her pennant number in April 1940. HMS ESKIMO above, NARVIK 1940 below, in antique silver.

45 mm, 4 mm thick, die-struck brass, rope border. Each coin is individually numbered and comes with a numbered certificate.

These images are concept renders. The struck coin may differ in small details.
